A gorgeous and quite rare miniature flat square tin in red, with a royal crest at the top of the lid above 'Huntley & Palmers Biscuits'. This is surrounded by an art nouveau flower design in silver.
Huntley & Palmers produced many such small sample tins, which could be given away free. This tin does not specify which variety of biscuit it contains and could, therefore, be used over a long period and for different kinds of biscuit. This example in wonderful condition dates to 1914, the year in which the Great War began and the world in Europe changed as people knew it. A stunning piece of social history and Reading's past!
